Data Policy

What data we process

We process account data (email, handle, profile picture), usage data (collections you start, entries you complete, who you follow), and technical data (e.g. device and log data) necessary to run the service securely and reliably.

Analytics and cookies. The first time you visit Collectari in a browser (or before you have recorded a choice), we show a notice over a dimmed background. Until you select OK or No thanks, you cannot use the rest of the site. This is so you can make an explicit choice about optional analytics.

If you select OK, we load PostHog in your browser to help us understand product usage in the aggregate: for example page views, which buttons or links you use (such as exploring passports or starting a collection), and campaign parameters from the URL (such as utm_source). PostHog may use cookies and local storage to recognise returning visits and keep session continuity. Your consent preference is stored locally in your browser.

If you have not yet chosen OK, we may store a one-time snapshot of campaign parameters or referrer information in your browser's local storage so that, if you later select OK, we can attribute your visit more accurately. That snapshot is not sent to PostHog unless you opt in. If you select No thanks, we do not load PostHog and do not send analytics data to PostHog from that browser.

Where data is stored and how it is secured

Your data is stored and processed using trusted providers (e.g. Supabase, Resend) in regions that support our service. We use encryption in transit and at rest, and access is limited to what is needed to operate and improve Collectari.

If you opt in to analytics, usage events are processed by PostHog in the region configured for our PostHog project (for example PostHog US Cloud or EU Cloud, depending on our settings).

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your data. We may share data with service providers that help us run the product (e.g. hosting, email). When you opt in to analytics, PostHog receives and processes the usage information described above on our behalf. We require service providers to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Your choices

You can view, update, or delete your account and associated data from the app. You can opt in or out of marketing emails.

For optional analytics, you choose OK or No thanks in the notice described above. If you choose No thanks, we do not load PostHog on that browser. You can change your mind later by clearing site data for Collectari in your browser settings; you may then see the notice again on your next visit.
